    The Environment

Cupron Technology is environmentally friendly as it is based on copper, a naturally occurring element present all over the world. Copper is absorbed and used beneficially by all ecosystems and virtually all life forms on earth.

Specifically, the copper oxide that is the basis for Cupron Technology is made from recycled copper. When Cupron technology is integrated into textile fibers, solid surfaces, and other polymers it is typically non-leaching or minimally leaching and thus has no negative environmental impacts.

According to the Environmental Protection agency (EPA), copper applied to the surface is not expected to readily move into groundwater. In fact, groundwater is far more exposed to copper from copper plumbing, copper based agricultural products, and other sources. In addition, according to the EPA, copper is an essential nutrient for most life forms.  Any negative impact of copper on aquatic and terrestrial organisms would depend on its bioavailability, and the copper oxide in Cupron Enhanced textiles is basically non-bioavailable due to its insoluble nature.

      • Product claims that can be made for products containing Cupron technology vary by country and by product. In particular, all antimicrobial claims in the US
are strictly regulated by the US EPA, which allows only preservative "treated article" claims, while structure-function/disease-treatment claims in the US need
to be pre-market approved by the US FDA. Partners and customers should consult Cupron for all questions regarding product claims in particular countries
