    Manufacturing Process

Cupron`s copper is a finely ground powder that may be made from either cathode grade copper or recycled sources depending upon the purity levels required for each application.

Cupron`s copper most often is blended into masterbatch with a number of different polymeric substrates including polybutylene terephthalate (PBT),  polyethylene terephthalate (PET), nylon, polyolefin,  poly lactic acid (PLA), and many others. Compounded materials can also be made directly with Cupron copper.

With the masterbatch, a variety of fibers, solid surfaces, and polymers can be manufactured.   The Cupron masterbatch behaves similarly to other masterbatch additives which are routinely added to fibers and polymers to enhance their base characteristics.

There is virtually no change to existing manufacturing processes nor is there any special equipment required to incorporate Cupron Technology.

      • Product claims that can be made for products containing Cupron technology vary by country and by product. In particular, all antimicrobial claims in the US
are strictly regulated by the US EPA, which allows only preservative "treated article" claims, while structure-function/disease-treatment claims in the US need
to be pre-market approved by the US FDA. Partners and customers should consult Cupron for all questions regarding product claims in particular countries
